Motor Vehicle Collisions (MVC)

Motor Vehicle Collision is the technical term and we do use this in our clinic. However most folks would say “car accident” or “car crash” in reference to the incident. How ever you name it, the general results are the same: acute injuries, a damaged car (or bike) and total upheaval of your life and routines.

The process of seeking treatment after a car accident can be challenging, and at times daunting, especially if you don’t have practitioners on your health team that understand the complexities of these injuries.

We have years of experience and specific training in treating injuries from car accidents. We also understand the process of dealing with insurance companies and are happy to help you navigate this new challenge.

There are a few steps you will need to take before starting treatment with us. First is opening a claim with your (or the other party’s) insurance. We will need the insurance company’s billing/contact information, your claim number and your adjuster’s contact information.

Secondly, we prefer for you to have a referral or prescription for Manual Therapy. Some insurance companies do not require this, but many do. Treatments will be based on your referral (which will be based on the severity of your injuries)  generally occurring once or twice per week for 6-8 weeks. At which point a re-exam will be needed to determine continued care.

We strongly recommend getting a thorough examination and diagnosis from a practitioner well versed in these types of injuries. We work with a few wonderful Chiropractors that we would happily recommend for this. (We emphatically encourage you to seek Chiropractic care for your injuries as this can greatly reduce your symptoms and speed your recovery significantly.) Other practitioners that can provide an exam and referral for you are Nurse Practitioner, Physicians Assistant, or other Primary Care practitioners as well as Urgent Care.

With these few things in hand you can schedule your Initial Assessment and Therapy as well as some subsequent (Follow Up) visits. Please feel free to schedule at least once a week for the first 4 weeks. Your therapist can help you schedule more visits as needed at the end of your first visit.

If you can not find an appointment time that works for you, please contact us and we will see how we might accommodate you.
